The R0367100 is the genuine Teledyne Laars igniter for the Jandy Laars Lite2 model LJ pool heater.

What the igniter does

On a hot surface ignition heater, the control energizes the igniter first and waits for it to reach temperature before it opens the gas. If the element is cracked or has lost continuity, the sequence stalls there. The heater goes through its motions, the gas never lights, and it locks out. That pattern, a heater that tries and fails on every call for heat, points at the igniter before anything else.

Why they fail

Igniter elements are brittle ceramic and they are heated and cooled hard every cycle. They crack with age, they crack from vibration, and they crack from being handled by the element during a previous service. Some fail visibly, some read open on a meter with no crack you can see.

Fitting it

Handle the new igniter by its base and ceramic block only. Oil from skin and the smallest impact against the element will take life off a part that should last for seasons.
