Product details
The R0491300 is the ignition control for LRZE model pool and spa heaters. It is the module that runs the heater from a call for heat to a lit burner.
What it controls
On a call for heat the ignition control drives the igniter, opens gas at the right point in the sequence and watches for proof of flame. If it does not see what it expects, it shuts the sequence down rather than keep gas flowing. That is why a failed control shows up as a heater that goes through the motions and never lights, or one that lights and then drops out.
Before you replace it
Several other faults produce the same symptom, including gas supply, the igniter, the flame sensor and the safety switches. Have the sequence diagnosed properly first. Ignition parts sit on the gas train of a fired appliance, so the work belongs to a qualified technician.

What does the ignition control actually do?
It runs the light off sequence: it calls for the igniter, opens the gas at the right moment and confirms that a flame is present. If any of that fails the heater locks out instead of lighting.
My heater will not light. Is this the part?
It is one of the likely causes, but not the only one. Gas supply, the igniter, the flame sensor and the safety switches all sit in the same chain, so have the sequence diagnosed before replacing parts.
Can I fit it myself?
