Product details

The Pentair R201778 is the blue flexible strip for the ProVac flexible vacuum, in a 5 ft length. It is listed for the 214R, 222R, 214, 222 and 229 models.

What the strip does

The flexible strip runs along the underside of the vacuum head and holds it against the pool surface. That contact is what makes the head pull debris in instead of drawing water past the edge, and it is why a vacuum with a worn strip feels like it has lost suction when the pump is fine.

Choosing the right one

Pentair lists a white short leg flexible strip alongside this blue one for the same vacuums. Compare the strip on your head before ordering so you get the matching profile.

Questions and answers

What people ask about this product, answered by our pool techs.

Which vacuums does this fit?
The Pentair ProVac flexible vacuums: models 214R, 222R, 214, 222 and 229.
How long is the strip?
5 ft.
Is this the same as the white one?
No. This is the blue strip. Pentair also lists a white short leg flexible strip for the same vacuums, so check which one your head takes.
Why replace the strip?
It is the part that keeps the vacuum head sealed against the pool floor. Once it is worn or has gone stiff, suction leaks past the head and the vacuum stops picking debris up cleanly.
