Century 1 HP Pool Motor, 2 Speed, Energy Efficient Full Rate, 230V

The Century B2982 is a two speed, full rated 1 HP pool and spa pump motor for 230 V service, built on the Y56Y frame with a threaded shaft. It is the replacement motor for Pentair Challenger, SuperFlo and WhisperFlo pumps that run two speeds.

Two speeds, one motor

High speed is 3450 rpm for vacuuming, running a heater or clearing the pool after a storm. Low speed is 1725 rpm for everyday turnover, where the motor draws a fraction of the current (1.4 A against 7.4 A at service factor). Nameplate output is 1.0 HP on high with a 1.65 service factor, 0.75 kW, 60 Hz single phase. The electrical design is PSC on low speed and cap start, cap run on high, started across the line.

Construction

Sealed ball bearings at both ends, a 303 stainless steel shaft with a 1/2 in. thread and 0.625 in. diameter, and a rolled steel open drip proof frame. It is thermally protected, Class F insulated, rated for continuous duty at 50 C ambient, UL recognized and CSA certified. Overall length is 13.40 in. with a 9.00 in. frame; rotation is counterclockwise from the pump end.

California

This motor is not California Title 20 compliant and cannot be sold or installed in California. Century's V-Green EVO variable speed motors (EVC130, EVC165, EVC225, EVQ130, EVQ165, EVQ225) meet the CEC standard and are the route for California pools.
