Product details
The brass anchor tamp tool, part number LLBATT, is the tool used to install brass safety anchors into a pool deck. It is sold as a replacement for installers who need another one.
How it is used
Brass anchors sit flush in a drilled hole in the concrete deck and take the springs that hold a safety cover down. The anchor has to go in square and finish level with the deck surface. The tamp tool sits on the anchor and takes the hammer blow, so the force is spread across the anchor body rather than landing on its rim.
Why it matters
The top of a brass anchor carries the thread that the cover hardware screws into, and that thread is easy to ruin. An anchor driven with a punch or a screwdriver goes in crooked or mushrooms at the top, and then the cover cannot be tensioned properly. The correct tool is the difference between an anchor that lasts the life of the deck and one that has to be drilled out.
