What it seals
An o-ring is a simple round gasket that squeezes between two surfaces. This one sits between the valve cover and the valve body. When it is fresh it takes up the gap and holds pressure. As it ages it hardens, flattens into an oval and loses the springiness that makes the seal work, and the valve starts to weep at the cover.
Before you order
Measure the old ring across the inside opening. This part is the 3 in. inside diameter size. A ring that has taken a set will read slightly larger and thinner than the new figures, so compare it against a known good ring if you have one.
