Product details
The Baker Hydro 50W1006 is the deluxe in ground pool skimmer for vinyl liner pools. Baker classifies it under the vinyl skimmer type, which is the distinction that matters when you are ordering: a vinyl skimmer and a gunite skimmer are built differently where they meet the pool wall and they are not interchangeable.
Vinyl or gunite
Baker Hydro builds a deluxe gunite in ground skimmer as a separate part. Before ordering, confirm which construction your pool is, because a skimmer meant for concrete will not seal correctly against a liner.
Why replace the whole skimmer
Lids, baskets and weirs are all serviceable on their own, so the skimmer body only comes out when the body itself has failed. Cracks through the throat, a face that has warped away from the liner, or screw bosses that no longer hold the faceplate down are the usual reasons. All three let water past the seal and behind the liner, which is a much larger problem than the skimmer.
Ordering
Go by the part number, 50W1006, so the throat and the faceplate pattern match the opening already cut in your wall.
