Product details

The Waterway 540-6417 is a complete Renegade skimmer for concrete and gunite pools, finished in grey with a round lid. It is the full assembly rather than a body you have to build up from separate parts.

Where it goes

A gunite skimmer is set into the pool wall as the shell is shot, or cut back in during a major renovation. That makes it a very different job from swapping a vinyl liner skimmer, and it is worth having the plumbing plan settled before the body is placed. The connections on this body are at the bottom, at 2 inch.

Check before you order

Two things decide whether this is the right skimmer for a replacement. The lid is round, so the opening in the deck has to match. And this version is supplied without a float valve, so if the pool depends on one, plan for that part separately. The source describes the 2 inch connection as slip in one place and as threaded bottom ports in another, so confirm what you have in front of you before committing any pipe.

Is this for a concrete pool or a vinyl liner pool?
Concrete. It is the gunite body, designed to be set into the wall of a concrete pool. A vinyl liner pool needs a liner specific skimmer instead.
Are the ports slip or threaded?
The source gives both readings. One description calls it 2 inch slip and another says the bottom ports are threaded. Confirm the connection against the skimmer in hand before you cut or glue any pipe.
Does it come with a float valve?
No. This version is supplied without the float valve.
What lid does it take?
A round lid. Waterway builds this Renegade body in both round and square lid styles, so match the shape of the existing deck opening when you order a replacement.
