Product details

The Waterway 540-6200 is the commercial Renegade gunite in-ground skimmer with an equalizer line, in white. Connections are 2-1/2 inch spigot x 2 inch S x 2 inch NPT, and it is NSF approved with a flow rate of 75 GPM.

Built for commercial work

The equalizer line is the difference between this skimmer and a residential unit. It gives the pump a second source of water below the surface, so a pool that drops below the skimmer mouth does not lose prime, and it is part of what the NSF listing requires. There is also a 1/2 inch socket for an overflow line.

Plumbing and flow

The sockets are PVC, so pipe solvent welds straight to them and you get a proper glue joint rather than a threaded transition that can leak. Waterway made the 2 inch socket a 2-1/2 inch spigot specifically to allow more flow through the body, which is what supports the 75 GPM rating.

In service

The basket is large and locks in place, so it holds a real load of leaves and does not float out when the pump shuts off. The weir door is spring loaded and lifts out easily, which matters, because the weir is the part swimmers knock and the part you will replace first. An optional skimmer test kit is available.

What is the equalizer line for?
