Product details

The Hayward SP10851OM is a complete wide track skimmer in white, with a square lid, a 1.5 inch FPT connection and a 12 1/4 inch throat length. It is supplied as the whole skimmer, not as a body to be built up.

Why the wide mouth matters

A skimmer only removes what reaches it. The Auto-Skim wide mouth throat gathers a wider band of surface water into the weir, which means leaves and film that would drift past a narrow throat get pulled in instead. On a pool with trees nearby that difference shows up in how often you are netting the surface.

Fit

The throat length is 12 1/4 inch and the connection is 1.5 inch female pipe thread. Measure the opening in the wall and check the plumbing before ordering, since throat length is what determines whether the skimmer sits correctly against the pool wall.

A note on pool type

The source material lists the skimmer type as fiberglass, and elsewhere describes it as an Auto-Skim wide mouth skimmer for vinyl and fiberglass pools. Both readings are carried here. If you are unsure which applies to your pool, ask before ordering.
