The Century USQ1202 is a 2 horsepower up rated square flange pool pump motor for 208-230v service. It runs at 3450 rpm on a 48Y frame with an open drip proof enclosure, and it is Century energy efficient build rather than a base replacement.

Built for the equipment pad

The motor uses sealed ball bearings at both ends, a capacitor start capacitor run design and a 303 stainless steel shaft. It carries automatic thermal protection and is rated for a 50 C ambient, which is the kind of heat a pump shed reaches on a summer afternoon. The stainless shaft is the detail that matters most at replacement time, because a corroded shaft is what turns a seal change into a whole motor.

Matching it to your pump

Century lists it for Sta-Rite Max-E-Glas II, Dura-Glas II, Max-E-Pro, Dyna-Glas and Dyna-Max. Before ordering, check three things on the old motor: the frame, the flange, and whether it was up rated or full rated. Getting the rating wrong changes the flow the pump actually delivers even though the horsepower on the label looks the same.

While the motor is off

Fit a new mechanical seal with the motor. The seal wears in against the faces it started life with and rarely survives a reinstall, and it is far cheaper to change now than after the pump is back on line and dripping.

Is this an up rated or a full rated motor?
Up rated. That matters when you compare it to the old motor, because up rated and full rated motors of the same nominal horsepower are not the same motor.
Which pumps does it fit?
Century lists it for Sta-Rite Max-E-Glas II, Dura-Glas II, Max-E-Pro, Dyna-Glas and Dyna-Max. It is a 48Y square flange motor, so match the frame and flange on your own pump before ordering.
Can I run it on 115v?
No. This motor is the 208-230v version, with a nameplate voltage of 230 V. There is no low voltage setting.
Do I reuse my old seal and impeller?
Replace the mechanical seal whenever the motor comes off. The impeller can carry over if it is sound, but a seal that has already been run in is not worth saving.
