Product details

The Century UST1202 is a single speed 2 HP up rated pool pump motor on a 56J frame with a round flange, wired for 115 or 230 volts. Century is the A.O. Smith motor line, and this is the standard round flange replacement for a wide group of older residential pumps.

What it fits

It is listed for Hayward® Max Flow, Super Pump, Super II and Northstar pumps, and for Jacuzzi Magnum pumps. On the Hayward® side the Super Pump listings cover SP1600, SP1600X, SP2600 and SP2600X. It also supersedes a long run of earlier A.O. Smith and Century numbers, so if the nameplate on your failed motor reads B230, C48M2N111, EUST1202 or something similar, check it against the substitute numbers in the specifications.

Up rated versus full rated

Up rated and full rated motors of the same nameplate horsepower are not the same motor. The up rated version carries the lower service factor, which is how a 2 HP up rated motor and a 1.5 HP full rated motor end up doing similar work. Replace like with like unless you have deliberately decided to change the pump duty.

Before you swap it

Motor changes are the right moment to renew the pump seal and inspect the seal plate and impeller, because all of that comes apart anyway. Confirm the frame, the flange and the voltage against the old motor before you disconnect anything.

Is this 115V or 230V?
Both. It is a dual voltage motor rated 115/230V and is wired for the supply you have.
What does up rated mean?
An up rated motor carries a lower service factor than a full rated motor of the same nameplate horsepower, so the two are not interchangeable on paper. Match the rating stamped on the motor you are replacing.
My old motor has a different part number. Will this still work?
Possibly. UST1202 supersedes a long list of earlier numbers including B230, C48M2N111, EUST1202 and JD20UP1. Compare your old nameplate against the substitute part numbers listed in the specifications.
