Product details
The Century B127 is a 3/4 HP replacement pool pump motor, dual voltage at 230/115 V, running 3450 rpm on a 1.5 service factor. It is an S56J frame motor with C-face mounting and a threaded shaft, which is the combination used by a large run of older pool pumps.
How it is built
It is a permanent split capacitor motor, switchless, so there is no centrifugal start switch to fail. The enclosure is open dripproof on a rigid base, rated for continuous duty at a 50 C ambient, with ball bearings at both ends and a UL 1081 design. Rotation is counterclockwise viewed from the pump end.
The shaft
The shaft is 303 stainless steel with 7/16" threads, 0.625" in diameter and a 2.57" extension, and the motor measures 12.01" overall. Stainless matters here: a plated shaft in a wet pump seal chamber will pit and then chew up every seal you fit afterwards. Century lists ST1072 as a substitute part number for this motor.
Change the pump shaft seal while the motor is out. It is a few dollars against a job you do not want to do twice.
