Product details

The Century B625 is the three quarter HP threaded shaft motor for the Polaris booster pump, listed by the manufacturer as identical to the P61 115/230V motor.

Threaded shaft

Booster pumps do not take an ordinary pool motor. The shaft on this one carries 1/2 inch threads, which is how the booster wet end mounts, so a standard keyed shaft motor is not a substitute.

Electrical and mechanical

It is a single phase, dual voltage motor rated 230/115 V at 60 Hz, running 3450 rpm on an N56CZ frame with a 1.5 service factor and a continuous duty rating. Full load current at service factor is 6.4/12.8 A. Construction is drip proof with sealed ball bearings at both ends, a rolled steel frame and Class B insulation, rated to a 40 C ambient and thermally protected.

Rotation

The manufacturer data states rotation two ways, as CW Non-Reversible and as Counterclockwise Pump End. It is a single rotation motor either way, so the wet end goes back together the way it came apart.

Will this replace my P61 motor?
Century lists B625 as identical to the P61 115/230V motor for the Polaris booster pump, and carries P61 as a substitute part number.
Can it run on 115V?
It is a dual voltage motor rated 230/115 V, single phase, 60 Hz. Wiring for the voltage you have is part of the installation.
What shaft does it have?
A threaded shaft, 1/2 inch threads, which is what the Polaris booster pump wet end takes. A standard keyed or square flange pool motor will not substitute.
Which direction does it turn?
The source states it two ways: CW Non-Reversible in the key features, and Counterclockwise Pump End in the technical data. Either way it is a single rotation motor, so the pump end has to be assembled the way the original was.
