Product details
The Sta-Rite 08428-0000 is the 1-1/4 inch white eyeball fitting used on gunite pool return inlets. It is the small swiveling ball that sits in the wall fitting and decides where the returned water actually goes.
Why aim matters
A pool only turns over properly when the returns push water toward the parts of the pool the skimmer cannot reach on its own. Point the eyeball down and slightly across the pool and the whole body of water rotates. Leave a return with no eyeball at all and the flow simply blasts straight out, so steps, corners and the deep end sit still and collect debris.
Sizing and pool type
This is the 1-1/4 inch fitting in the gunite pattern. Vinyl liner and fiberglass pools use different wall fittings, and 1-1/2 inch returns take a different eyeball, so confirm the size at the wall before you order.
Supplied in white to match standard white wall fittings and plaster.

What size return does this fit?
It is the 1-1/4 inch fitting. Measure the inlet before ordering, as 1-1/2 inch returns take a different part.
Will this work in a vinyl liner pool?
This one is the gunite version. Vinyl liner and fiberglass walls use their own fitting styles, so match the fitting to the pool.
