Quick overview

  • Covers two tank sizes The assembly listed for both the 25 inch and the 31 inch tank.
  • Hub and laterals together Supplied as an assembly rather than as loose laterals.
  • Cross referenced Also carried under part number 4640-41C.
  • Sits under the sand The laterals collect filtered water at the bottom of the bed and feed it back to the pool.
  • The fix for sand in the pool Cracked laterals let sand pass through to the returns, and no amount of backwashing corrects that.
  • Plan the sand change The tank has to be emptied of sand to reach the assembly, so replace the media at the same time.

Product details

The Baker Hydro 15B0129 is the hub and lateral assembly for 25 inch and 31 inch sand filter tanks. It is also carried under the part number 4640-41C.

What it does

The assembly sits at the bottom of the tank, buried in the sand bed. Water passes down through the media and is collected by the slotted laterals, which feed it back up the standpipe and out to the pool. The slots are sized to pass water and hold the sand back.

When it needs replacing

Split or cracked laterals send sand out to the returns. Because the assembly lives under the media, reaching it means emptying the tank, so it is normal to fit new sand at the same time.

Questions and answers

What people ask about this product, answered by our pool techs.

Which tanks does this fit?
It is listed for the 25 inch and 31 inch tanks.
Is 4640-41C the same part?
Yes, that number is carried as a substitute part number for this assembly.
Do I get the hub and the laterals?
Yes. It is supplied as the hub and lateral assembly, not as individual laterals.
Why would laterals need replacing?
Cracked or split laterals let sand through to the returns and drop the pressure across the filter. If you are seeing sand in the pool, the laterals are the first place to look.
