Product details

This is the Swimline HydroTools skimmer basket, style 8928, the replacement basket for standard Olympic above ground skimmers. It measures 6-1/8 inches across the top, 4-1/8 inches across the bottom and 2-3/4 inches tall.

Check the fit first

Skimmer baskets are not interchangeable across brands, and the same skimmer body can change size between model years. Pull your old basket and compare all three dimensions before you order, since a basket that is too tall will not let the lid sit down and one that is too narrow will float and let debris slip past the rim.

Why it is worth replacing early

The basket is the last thing standing between leaves and your pump. Once the weave splits, debris goes straight to the pump strainer and, from there, to the impeller. A cracked basket is a few dollars to fix and expensive to ignore.

Questions and answers

What people ask about this product, answered by our pool techs.

What are the dimensions?
It measures 6-1/8 inches across the top, 4-1/8 inches across the bottom and 2-3/4 inches tall.
What skimmer does it fit?
It is listed for standard Olympic above ground skimmers. Because basket sizes vary, measure your old basket against the three dimensions before ordering.
Is a matching weir door available?
Yes, the HydroTools Olympic skimmer weir door is a separate part and is listed on its own.
Why does a cracked basket matter?
The basket is the last catch before the pump. Once it splits, leaves and hair pass through to the pump strainer and then to the impeller.
