Product details

SPX1082N2 is the genuine Hayward replacement handle for the 1082-CA skimmer basket. It is molded plastic, the same as the handle that came on the basket.

Why the handle goes first

The handle carries the whole weight of a loaded basket every time the skimmer is emptied, which for most pools is at least weekly and daily in the fall. The basket itself takes almost no load by comparison. That is why handles snap while the basket is still perfectly good, and why Hayward sells the handle as its own part.

Before you order

Confirm your basket is the 1082-CA. If the basket is cracked or the ribs have gone brittle as well, replace the basket instead, since a new handle on a failing basket only buys a short reprieve.

Not if the basket itself is sound. The handle takes all the stress of lifting a loaded basket, so it fails long before the basket does, and it is sold on its own for exactly that reason.
