The Polaris K27 is the genuine OEM idler wheel for TankTrax equipped Polaris 280 pressure side pool cleaners. It is carried against the Polaris 280 and TR28P.
What the idler does
TankTrax replaces the bare wheels of a standard 280 with a track. The idler wheels are what that track runs across. They do not drive the cleaner, but they hold the track at the right tension and keep it seated and turning. When an idler flat spots, seizes on its bearing or wears down, the track goes slack and either wanders off line or comes off entirely.
Symptoms and a practical note
A cleaner that has stopped climbing walls, drifts to one side, or repeatedly throws a track is usually telling you the idlers are done. They wear at similar rates across the cleaner, so inspect all of them while it is on the deck. Replacing one obviously bad idler and leaving three tired ones tends to buy only a few weeks.
