The Jandy R0591400 is the gas valve for JXi heater models 200, 260 and 400. It is the genuine Jandy part.

What the valve does

On a call for heat, the control energizes the gas valve, which opens and delivers gas to the burner at the pressure the heater is rated for. It is also the part that shuts the gas off the moment a limit trips or the control drops out, so it sits in both the operating and the safety path.

Symptoms of a bad valve

A heater that goes through its ignition sequence but never lights, or that lights and then cannot hold a steady flame, points at the valve once gas supply and inlet pressure have been confirmed. Because those symptoms overlap with ignition and sensor faults, it is worth checking the cheaper parts first.

Fitting

Replacing a gas valve is work for a qualified technician. The joints have to be leak tested and manifold pressure has to be checked against the rating plate before the heater goes back into service.
