The Jandy R0589403 is the copper heat exchanger tube replacement for the Model 260 JXi pool heater. It is the genuine Jandy part.
What it is
The heat exchanger is the copper bundle that pool water passes through inside the heater. Combustion heat crosses the copper wall into the water. Every other part of the heater, the burner, the blower and the controls, exists to serve this one component.
Why it fails
Copper is attacked from the water side. Water carried below the correct pH, or with sanitizer levels held too high, eats the tubes from within, and a heater fed by a dirty filter or a weak pump runs the tubes hotter than they were designed for. A leaking exchanger is almost always the symptom of one of those two conditions.
Before you refit
Balance the water and confirm the pump and filter are delivering proper flow before the new exchanger goes in. A replacement fitted into the same conditions that destroyed the first one will not last any longer.
