The Jandy R0592300 is the high-limit temperature sensor for the JXi pool heater, listed for the model 200, 260 and 400. It is the genuine Jandy part.

What it is there for

The high limit is a safety sensor. It is separate from the thermostat that holds your set temperature, and its only job is to shut the heater down if water temperature climbs past the point the heater is allowed to run at. Without a working one, an overtemperature condition has nothing to stop it.

Diagnosing a high limit fault

Heaters that lock out on high limit fall into two groups. Either the water really is getting too hot, which almost always comes back to flow, a dirty filter, a closed or partly closed valve, a struggling pump, or the sensor itself has failed and is reporting a temperature that is not there. Work through the flow side first. If the flow is good and the heater still trips, the sensor is the part to change.

Which heaters does it fit?
The Jandy JXi in the 200, 260 and 400 sizes.
What does the high limit sensor do?
It watches water temperature and shuts the heater down if it goes past the safe limit. It is a protective device, not the sensor that controls your set point.
My heater keeps tripping on high limit. Is the sensor the problem?
It can be, but a genuine overtemperature is more often caused by low flow. Check the filter, the valves and the pump first, and replace the sensor when the flow is good and the trips continue.
