What it is for
A JXi has to draw combustion air from somewhere. Where that air is piped to the heater rather than taken from the space around it, the intake connection needs an adapter to meet 3 inch pipe. This is that fitting.
Intake, not exhaust
Read the part name carefully before ordering. This is the intake side. Jandy also lists a 4 inch JXi vent adapter, which serves the exhaust and is a different part number, and the two are easy to mix up when you are ordering from a photograph.
