The Polaris 9-100-1204 is the genuine OEM mechanism for the in-line back-up valve used on the Polaris 360 pressure side cleaner. It is the working internal part that fits inside back-up valve 9-100-1200.
What the back-up valve does
A 360 cleans by wandering the pool on a random pattern, and the thing that keeps it from getting stuck is the back-up valve. At intervals the valve diverts water and the cleaner reverses for a short run, which is enough to pull it out of a corner, off a step or away from a ladder. When the valve stops cycling, the cleaner parks itself and stays there.
Mechanism, not the whole valve
This listing is the mechanism only. It is the part that actually cycles, and it wears long before the housing does, so a valve with a good body can usually be brought back with the mechanism alone. If the body is cracked or the hose barbs are damaged, you want the complete valve instead.
