Pentair 523039 is the genuine replacement quartz sleeve for the BioShield UV sanitizer, model #522635. It measures 22.25 in.

What the sleeve does

Inside a UV sanitizer the lamp never touches pool water. It sits inside a quartz tube, and the water flows around the outside of that tube. Quartz is used because it passes ultraviolet light where ordinary glass would block it.

Why it needs replacing

The sleeve is the part that gets dirty. Scale, mineral film and clouding build up on the outside, and every bit of that cuts the ultraviolet reaching the water. The unit keeps humming along looking perfectly healthy while its actual output drops. A cracked sleeve is more urgent still, since it lets water reach the lamp.

What is included

The sleeve only. If the lamp is also due, or the seals are leaking, those are separate Pentair parts for the same unit.

Which BioShield does this fit?
Model #522635. The sleeve is 22.25 in. long for that unit.
Does the UV lamp come with it?
No. This is the quartz sleeve alone. The BioShield UV lamp and the UV seal kit are sold as separate Pentair parts.
