Product details
The Pool Tool Inc. 141 is a cleaning kit for closed pump impellers. It is sold as a kit under the one part number.
Why closed impellers need a tool
On a closed impeller the vanes are sandwiched between two shrouds, so the passages are enclosed and there is no way to reach in and pull debris out with your fingers. Hair, leaf stems and grit collect in those passages and choke flow. The symptoms are familiar: slow priming, weak suction, and less water at the returns even with a clean pump basket and a clean filter.
The alternative
Without a dedicated tool the fix is stripping the wet end down far enough to get the impeller off, which is a much longer job. Clearing the passages in place is what this kit is for.
