The Hayward SP1056T is the install and removal tool for the SP1056 hydrostatic relief valve. It is built to reach valves that sit below plaster level in the pool floor.
Why the tool matters
The hydrostatic relief valve threads into the main drain sump at the bottom of the pool, where it lets the ground water table around the shell equalize with the water inside. Once plaster is over it, the valve is recessed and awkward, and years in the water leave it seized. Trying to turn one with pliers or a screwdriver usually shears the valve rather than freeing it.
Getting leverage
The tool has holes through it that take a length of re-bar. With re-bar through, you have a long handle and can put real force on a valve that will not budge. The same tool seats the replacement valve, so the job goes back together with the right fit.
