The Pentair 154512Z is the 6 inch flanged closure wrench for 1-1/2 inch MultiPort valves, the top mount and side mount versions fitted to Triton II and Tagelus filters. It is the genuine Pentair tool.
Why a matched wrench
A MultiPort closure is plastic, and it goes tight after a season on a warm pad. Reaching for a pipe wrench works once and leaves gouges in the flange, and those gouges become the leak the following spring. This wrench is plastic, sized to the closure, and grips the flange all the way around so the effort is spread instead of concentrated.
Getting it back together
Use the wrench to break a seized closure free. On reassembly the sealing is done by the o-ring, so bring the closure up snug and stop. Cranking a plastic closure down hard does not improve the seal and can split it.
