The Century ST1072 is a full rated 3/4 HP pool pump motor, 230/115 volt, 3450 rpm, on a 56J frame with a C face mount and a threaded shaft. It is the motor used on Hayward Super and Super II pumps.
Full rated, and why it matters
A full rated motor makes its stated horsepower on the nameplate and then carries a 1.5 service factor on top of that. An up rated motor of the same label reaches a similar total only by counting the service factor in. When you are matching a motor to an existing pump and its wet end, the distinction changes the flow you end up with, so read the old nameplate before ordering.
Build
Sealed ball bearings run at both ends on a 303 stainless shaft. The design is capacitor start with a sealed switch, automatic thermal protection and an open drip proof enclosure, rated for a 50 C ambient. The frame is rolled steel and the drive end bearing housing is 304 stainless.
Fitting
Overall length is 13.53 inch with a 7.63 inch frame length, and the shaft is 0.625 inch in diameter with a 2.562 inch extension. Rotation is counterclockwise viewed from the pump end. Check clearance in the pad and the condition of the pump shaft seal before you rebuild, since the seal is a separate kit and it is the wrong part to reuse.
