The Raypak B-R407A-EN-C is a 399K BTU low NOx natural gas pool heater, ASME certified, with digital IID controls, bronze headers and a copper heat exchanger. It carries Raypak part number 017708 and is rated for elevations from sea level to 5000 ft.
Low NOx
Low NOx describes a burner designed to cut nitrogen oxide output. It is not a performance upgrade, it is a compliance choice: some air quality districts allow only low NOx appliances, and others do not care. Check the rule for the site before deciding between this heater and a standard emissions model.
ASME and bronze
Commercial pool codes commonly require an ASME rated heater, and this is the ASME certified 407A. The bronze headers go with that specification, chosen over the standard header where water chemistry is more demanding on the heater.
Controls and installation
Digital IID means intermittent ignition with digital controls: the burner lights on a call for heat instead of holding a pilot, and setpoints and diagnostics are on the display. A 399K BTU appliance needs a gas supply sized for it and correct venting, so have it installed by a licensed gas fitter working to the Raypak manual and local code. It ships by freight.
