Quick overview
- Rated 30 MFD at 370 VAC Match both numbers to the capacitor coming off the motor before you order.
- Measures 1-3/4 in. by 2-7/8 in. The physical size matters as much as the rating, because the capacitor has to sit in the motor housing or under the band.
- Run capacitor, not a start capacitor A run capacitor stays in the circuit the whole time the motor is turning.
- Century branded Supplied under the Century motor brand.
- A common motor no start cause A motor that hums, trips or starts slowly is very often a tired capacitor rather than a failed motor.
- Inexpensive first repair Far cheaper to change than the motor it protects.

Product details
The Century 628318-308 is a run capacitor rated 30 MFD at 370 VAC, in a can measuring 1-3/4 in. by 2-7/8 in. It is a replacement capacitor for pool pump motors.
Matching the part
Three things have to line up: the capacitance in MFD, the voltage rating, and the physical size of the can. The rating is printed on the side of the capacitor already in the motor. Size matters because the capacitor has to fit the housing or the band it is clamped under, and capacitors of the same rating are not all the same shape.
What a bad capacitor looks like
A motor that hums without turning, comes up to speed slowly, runs hot or trips a breaker is very often carrying a failed run capacitor rather than a failed motor. Capacitors are consumable and they age faster in hot equipment pads. Swapping one is cheap next to replacing a motor.
Safety
Capacitors hold a charge after the power is off. Kill the breaker and discharge the old capacitor before you touch the terminals.
