The Sta-Rite GW9012 is the swivel assembly for the Great White and Lil Shark pool cleaners. It is the genuine part, made in plastic.
What a swivel is for
A suction cleaner spends its life turning. The swivel sits in the hose connection and lets the cleaner rotate without twisting the hose behind it. When it works you never think about it. When it seizes, every turn the cleaner makes puts a twist into the hose, and within an hour the hose is coiled and the cleaner is being dragged back over ground it already covered.
Checking it
Pull the hose and spin the swivel by hand. Free and smooth is fine; stiff, gritty or locked means it needs replacing. It is one of the cheapest parts on the cleaner and one of the most common reasons a Great White stops covering the whole pool.
