Sta-Rite GW9508 is the vacuum skirt for the Great White GW9500 pool cleaner. It is the rubber sealing piece on the underside of the cleaner, and it is the genuine Sta-Rite part.
What it does
The skirt closes the gap between the body of the cleaner and the pool floor. Everything the cleaner picks up depends on that seal. Once it is intact, suction is concentrated under the head, and once it is torn or hardened, air and water leak in around the edge and the pull drops away even though the pump is working normally.
A wear part
Rubber that drags across plaster, tile or a liner every cycle wears out. Curled edges, hard spots, splits and missing sections are all normal end of life, and replacing the skirt is the cheapest way to bring a tired cleaner back to full pickup before you start suspecting the pump or the hose.
