Product details
The Aqua-Flo 92830070 is the wear ring for the Flo-Master XP2 pump. It is a small plastic ring, and it does a job nothing else in the pump does.
What it does
The wear ring sets the running clearance around the impeller. When that clearance is tight, pressurized water leaving the impeller has to go out to the discharge. When the ring wears and the gap opens up, some of that water slips straight back to the suction side and gets pumped again. The motor sounds fine, the pump primes, but flow at the returns falls off.
When to fit one
The usual moment is during an impeller or shaft seal job, when the pump is already open. Look at the ring while you are in there: grooving or an obviously enlarged bore means it should not go back in.
