The Pentair LA415 is the volute O-ring for the new style Letro booster pump. It is the genuine Pentair part, made of rubber.
What it seals
The volute is the housing that directs water off the impeller and out of the pump. The O-ring at that joint holds back the full booster pressure, which is considerably higher than a filter pump produces. When it hardens, flattens or nicks, the pump either drips at the seam or loses the pressure the cleaner needs to work properly.
When to replace it
Any time the booster pump is opened. An O-ring that has been compressed and heat cycled for a few seasons will not reseal reliably, and it is the cheapest part in the whole job. Confirm you have the new style booster pump before ordering, since the older version uses different parts.
