Waterway 805-0436 is the lid o-ring for the 6 inch pump trap cover. It seals the clear lid against the strainer pot, which is what lets the pump hold a vacuum and keep its prime.
The size
The ring measures 5-7/8 inches inside diameter and 6-3/8 inches outside diameter, with a 1/4 inch cord thickness. It is used on Waterway Hi-Flow, Champion 56 and Center Discharge pool pumps.
When to change it
Pool chemistry and heat harden the rubber over time. Once the ring flattens, cracks or takes a permanent set, the lid stops sealing and the pump starts drawing air at the trap. Symptoms are a pump that will not prime, a basket that never fills, or a trickle of water weeping past the lid. Replacing the ring is a two minute job and it is worth keeping a spare on hand.
Clean the groove and the sealing face before fitting the new ring, then seat the lid by hand. A thin film of silicone o-ring lubricant helps it sit evenly and keeps the lid from sticking.
