The Hayward SPX0125T is the strainer cover gasket for Max-Flo pumps in the 1800 and 2800 model families. It is the genuine Hayward part.
What it seals
The gasket sits between the clear strainer lid and the pump pot. Everything upstream of the impeller is under suction, so any gap at that lid pulls air rather than leaking water. That is why a bad lid gasket shows up as a pump that will not hold prime, or as a pot that never fills completely and runs half full of bubbles.
Fitting
Gaskets flatten, harden and crack with heat and chemical exposure, and a stretched one will not seal however hard the lid is tightened. Clean the seat properly before the new gasket goes on, use a thin film of pool lubricant to help it seat, and empty the strainer basket while the lid is off.
