Product details

Waterway 805-0111 is the drain plug o-ring used on the Hi-Flo, Center Discharge, and Executive 48 and 56 frame pool pumps. It is the genuine Waterway part.

The part behind a weeping plug

The drain plug does not seal on its threads, it seals on this o-ring pressing against the seat. Once the ring has taken a set, split, or picked up grit, the plug leaks and no amount of extra torque fixes it. Worse, on the suction side a weeping plug pulls air rather than pushing water, which shows up as a pump that struggles to hold prime.

Winterizing habit

Drain plugs come out every fall and go back every spring, and that cycle is exactly what wears the o-ring. Fit a new one at opening, put a thin film of pool grade silicone lubricant on it, and start the season with a dry pump.

My drain plug drips even when it is tight. Is this the fix?
Usually yes. Over tightening a plug with a flattened o-ring does not seal it, and the o-ring is the part that has failed.
Should I use lubricant on it?
Yes. A thin film of pool grade silicone lubricant helps the o-ring seat and keeps it from tearing the next time the plug comes out.
Does the drain plug itself come with this?
No. This is the o-ring only. The drain plug is a separate Waterway part.
