The Waterway 805-0256 is the volute faceplate o-ring for Hi-Flo above ground pumps. It measures 5-3/4 in. inside diameter, 6 in. outside diameter, with a 1/8 in. cord.
What it seals
The o-ring sits between the faceplate and the volute, on the suction side of the pump. Everything there runs under vacuum while the pump is working, which means a seal that has hardened, cracked or taken a permanent set does not simply drip, it pulls air in. That shows up as a pump that will not hold prime, air in the pump pot, or a pump that primes and then loses it after a while.
Fitting
Clean the groove before the new o-ring goes in and use a silicone o-ring lubricant. That helps it seat evenly and stops it rolling or pinching as the faceplate is drawn down, which is the usual reason a fresh o-ring still leaks.
