The Pentair 356173Z is the seal plate o-ring for the 3HP IntelliFlo3 pool pump. It seals the joint between the seal plate and the pump housing.

Where it sits

The seal plate is the wall between the wet end and the motor. Two seals matter at that plate: the shaft seal, which handles the spinning shaft, and this o-ring, which handles the static joint around the outside. If the o-ring hardens or gets pinched on reassembly, water finds the joint and runs down the outside of the housing.

Fit a new one every time

O-rings take a permanent set once compressed in a groove. Any time this pump is opened, replace the o-ring rather than reusing it. Match the horsepower rating when you order, since Pentair lists parts separately across the IntelliFlo3 range.
