The Waterway 400-9230 is a pump union with a 2 inch nut. It can be plumbed either as a 1-1/2 in. slip connection or as a 2 in. spigot, so one part covers both pipe sizes.

What a union buys you

Unions are what stand between a routine service and an afternoon with a saw and a can of glue. Loosen the nut and the pump lifts off. That matters at winterizing, at seal replacement, and any time the wet end has to come apart.

Ordering

Check which side you are replacing and whether the pipe going into it is 1-1/2 or 2 inch. Most installations carry a union on the suction and another on the discharge, so look at both before deciding how many to buy.
