Product details
The Waterway 715-1201 is the black 3/8 in. quarter slot drain plug used on Waterway pool pumps, including the Hi-Flo and the Executive 56 frame models.
Small part, real job
The drain plug is how water gets out of the strainer pot and volute. Before a freeze that is not optional: water left in a pump housing expands as it freezes and cracks the plastic, which turns a five dollar part into a new wet end. It comes out again any time the pump is opened for service.
Do the seal at the same time
Plugs are usually replaced because the old one is cross threaded, stripped in the slot or weeping. The seal at the plug is a separate Waterway o-ring, so pick one up with the plug rather than reusing a seal that has been compressed for several seasons.
