Product details
Hayward SPX1500W is the rubber strainer o-ring measuring 1-15/16 inches inside diameter by 3/32 inch thick. It is the genuine Hayward part and it shows up across a wide slice of the Hayward line.
Where it is used
Hayward lists it for the Power-Flo SP1500 series, the Power-Flo LX SP1580 series, the Power-Flo II and III SP1700 and SP1700UN pumps and the Turbo-Flo SP2075 and SP2175, as well as the XStream cartridge filters CC1000, CC1500, CC1750 and CC2000, the Perflex EC65, EC65A, EC75 and EC75A DE filters, and Leslie's Hydramax above ground pumps.
Why it matters
The strainer o-ring is on the suction side, which means a failure pulls air in rather than pushing water out. That shows up as a pot that will not fill, a pump that loses prime overnight, or bubbles at the returns, and it is easy to mistake for a bigger problem.
Fitting
Clean the groove before the new o-ring goes in and give it a light coat of pool rated silicone lubricant. That helps it seat evenly, holds the seal and keeps the ring from tearing the next time the lid comes off.
