Product details
The Hayward SPX1580Z1 is the pump housing o-ring for the Power-Flo LX SP1580 series. It is the genuine Hayward OEM part, in molded rubber.
What it seals
It sits at the housing joint and keeps that seam watertight. When it hardens or takes a permanent set, the seam starts weeping while the pump runs and, on the suction side of the same joint, it lets air in. That second symptom is the sneaky one: a pump that struggles to hold prime, or holds air in the strainer pot no matter how many times you bleed it.
Fitting it
Clean the groove and the sealing face before the new o-ring goes in. Grit or old debris on either surface will leave a path for water past a perfectly good part. Do not try to rescue the old o-ring with lubricant; once it has flattened, it will not seal again.
