The Hayward SPX5500E is the shroud assembly for the Power-Flo Matrix SP1590 series pump. It is the genuine Hayward part, molded in plastic to the same shape as the one fitted at the factory.
What the shroud does
The shroud is the cover over the motor end of the pump. It is the first thing that sees sun, rain, leaf litter and any water that gets sprayed around the equipment pad. Because it is plastic and lives outdoors, it is common for the shroud to crack or break away years before anything is wrong with the pump itself.
Before you order
Check the model plate reads SP1590. The Matrix shares its name with other Hayward pumps, and covers are not interchangeable between series. Isolate the pump at the breaker before doing any work on it.
