Product details

SPX5500B is the Hayward diffuser cover for Power-Flo Matrix pumps in the SP1590 series, which takes in the SP1591, SP1592 and SP1593. It is the genuine Hayward part, molded in plastic like the original.

What the diffuser does

The diffuser sits over the impeller and shapes the water leaving it, turning speed into pressure before the flow reaches the pump outlet. When the cover cracks or warps, water escapes the path it is supposed to follow. The symptom is soft returns and a pump that is clearly running but not moving what it should.

Before you order

Open the pump and look at which piece has failed. This listing is the cover, and the diffuser body is a separate part. Confirm your model is in the SP1590 series while you have the housing apart.
