The Hayward SPX1500P is the strainer cover O-ring for Power-Flo pumps, the seal that sits between the clear lid and the strainer housing. The same ring is also listed as O-231, so either number gets you here.
Fitment and size
It is used across the Power-Flo family: the SP1500 series, the Power-Flo LX SP1580 series, and the Power-Flo II and III SP1700 and SP1700UN series. The ring is rubber, 5-1/8 inch inside diameter, 3/16 inch thick.
Why it matters
The lid seal is the highest point on the suction side, which makes it the easiest place for a pump to pull air. When the ring flattens, hardens or picks up a nick, the pump loses prime, the basket runs half full and the flow drops off. Swapping the O-ring is a few minutes of work and rules out the most common cause before anyone starts pulling the pump apart.
