Product details

The Waterway 400-5570 is a complete pump union assembly. One end is a 2" union nut that threads onto a 2" pump port, and the other end is a 2" slip socket that glues to 2" PVC pipe.

Why the union matters

The union is the joint that makes a pump serviceable. With one on each side, a pump can be unthreaded and lifted out for a seal change, a motor swap or a winter teardown, and go back in the same afternoon. Without them, every one of those jobs starts with a saw and ends with new couplings and a wait for glue to cure.

If your pipe is 1-1/2"

Plenty of installations run 1-1/2" PVC into a pump with 2" ports. A 2" to 1-1/2" reducer bushing sits in the slip socket and lets you glue to the smaller pipe. It is a separate item, so add it to the order if that is what you have in the ground.

What size pipe does it take?
2" PVC on the slip side. The other end is a 2" union nut that threads onto a 2" pump port.
My plumbing is 1-1/2". Can I still use it?
Yes, with a reducer. A 2" to 1-1/2" reducer bushing is a separate item and drops into the slip socket so you can glue to 1-1/2" pipe.
Is the nut included?
Yes. It ships as a complete union assembly, not as loose pieces.
Why fit a union at the pump at all?
So the pump can come off without cutting pipe. Without unions, changing a seal or swapping a pump means a saw and a set of couplings every time.
