Product details

The CMP 21063-150-000 is a 1-1/2 inch pump union molded in CPVC, with a slip socket on one end and a male pipe thread on the other. It joins pipe to a threaded equipment port in a way that can be taken apart again.

What a union buys you

A glued coupling is permanent. A union is not: the collar backs off and the joint separates, so a pump, filter or heater can be pulled off the pad for service without a saw and a rebuild of the plumbing. Fitting unions at the equipment is what turns a half day repair into a short one.

CPVC and where it belongs

CPVC handles higher water temperature than standard PVC, which is why it gets specified on hot side plumbing and around spa equipment. It installs the same way, but it needs solvent cement made for CPVC, not ordinary PVC cement.

Fitting notes

Solvent weld the socket end to clean, deburred 1-1/2 inch pipe. On the threaded end, seal the thread and tighten by hand plus a small turn. Plastic threads strip and crack when they are wrenched down hard, and a union that is snug does not need to be tight.

What does SKT x MIP mean?
One end is a slip socket that solvent welds onto 1-1/2 inch pipe. The other is a male iron pipe thread that screws into a threaded port.
Why CPVC instead of PVC?
CPVC tolerates higher water temperature than standard PVC, which is why it turns up around heaters and spa equipment. It is a direct substitute in the same 1-1/2 inch size.
Does it include the nut and seal?
The part number covers the CMP union as the manufacturer supplies it. If you only need a replacement union o-ring or nut, order that piece by its own part number.
Which cement do I use?
