Product details

The Waterway 806-1400 is the faceplate gasket for the Champion 56 frame pump, and it is also carried for the Econo-Flo. It seals the faceplate against the pump housing.

Checking the size

Approximate dimensions are 9 inches from top to bottom and 8-3/8 inches side to side, with a flat section along the top running about 4-1/2 inches. Measure the gasket you are pulling out against those figures if you are not certain which pump you have, since gaskets of a similar shape are not always the same size.

Fit a new one

Gaskets are single use in practice. Once compressed they take a permanent set, and a reused gasket is the usual reason a pump starts weeping at the housing joint the day after a service. If the faceplate is coming off for any reason, the gasket goes back on new.

Can I reuse the old gasket?
Not once it has been compressed. A gasket takes a permanent set in service, and refitting one that has hardened or flattened is the most common cause of a pump that starts weeping straight after a service.
My pump drips at the housing joint. Is this the fix?
It is the first place to look. If the drip comes from the seam where the faceplate meets the body, the gasket has usually gone hard or been crushed unevenly.
